Trust and transparency

How RentCtrl earns your trust.

Rent decisions affect people’s homes and finances. Our guidance should make its sources, limits and human responsibility easy to see.

01

One person is responsible

Mahesh founded RentCtrl and reviews the material published here. RentCtrl is not an anonymous content operation. If something is unclear or wrong, you can contact the person responsible for it.

02

Primary sources come first

We prefer legislation, official forms, tribunal materials, government guidance and official statistics. Each guide lists the important sources used to review it. A source supports a claim; it does not replace a plain-English explanation of what the claim means.

03

How we use AI

AI may help Mahesh draft, organise, compare or check material. It is never treated as a legal source and it does not publish pages by itself. Mahesh reviews the final wording and remains responsible for what RentCtrl says.

The practical rule: if a statement matters, it should be traceable to a reliable source or clearly presented as practical guidance rather than law.

04

Review dates mean something

Guides show when they were last reviewed. We review pages when the law, official forms or relevant guidance changes. A review date means the page and its main sources were checked; it is not a promise that every individual situation will have the same answer.

05

Diagrams and data must explain

Visuals are used when they make a deadline, decision or process easier to understand. Data charts name their source, period and limitations. We do not use decorative statistics, fake live counters or graphics that imply more certainty than the evidence supports.

06

Corrections are welcome

If you spot an error, outdated source or unclear explanation, tell Mahesh. Material corrections are made promptly and the page’s review date is updated. We would rather correct the record than defend a mistake.

07

Know the limits

RentCtrl provides practical information, not legal representation. It is focused on private assured tenancies in England. The facts of a tenancy can change the answer, and complex or urgent cases may require help from a qualified housing adviser or solicitor.
